Date: 14.05.2007
Lianozovosky Dairy Plant has been a part of the Wimm-Bill-Dann production and trade group from the moment of Wimm-Bill-Dann's inception and is its flagship enterprise. Wimm-Bill-Dann Foods OJSC is Russia's leading producer of juice and dairy products. The Company was founded in 1992. Today the company has 33 production facilities in Russia and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). Affiliated trading companies operate in the 26 largest cities of Russia and the CIS, with distributors working in more than 40 cities. The company has over 17,000 employees. Wimm-Bill-Dann has a diversified brand portfolio of more than 1,000 types of dairy products and 150 types of juice and juice-based drinks. The company occupies the leading position in the Russian dairy market with a 34% market share in 2005. Lianozovsky Dairy Plant (LMK) was constructed at the request of the Moscow authorities as the most modern enterprise of its time, and one of its construction contractors was the Swedish company Tetra Laval. In November 1988 LMK began production. However, in the beginning of the 1990s the factory began to experience severe financial and production problems: the volume of production fell, it did not have free cash flows, its production capacity was idle and it began to lay off personnel. In order to survive, the enterprise had to quickly improve its technology, modernize its equipment, expand its product portfolio and improve the quality of its product output.
At the end of 1992 the plant accepted an offer from Wimm-Bill-Dann of strategic partnership. Wimm-Bill-Dann provided the plant with not only financial help but the real modern management. The company undertook the development of new trademarks and the creation of an efficient plan for bringing products to the market. The first positive results of this cooperation appeared in the middle of 1994. By 1996 LMK's production volume grew five-fold in comparison to 1992. In 1997 LMK occupied fifth place in terms of growth rate and eighth in the rating of reputation among all enterprises in Russia. The plant is equipped with modern Western equipment for food production provided by the best European manufacturers:
Thanks to the introduction in January 2000 of a system of electronic procurement by the LMK information computing centre, the wholesale operations of the plant's sales department are done through an electronic settlement system. This allows the sales force to react flexibly to market demand and constantly enhance the product portfolio. Today Lianozovsky Dairy Plant is the largest dairy plant in Europe with the capacity to process from 1,200 to 1,500 tons of milk a day. The plant produces approximately 1,300 tons of finished products a day. All products manufactured at the plant are of high-quality and possess top consumer characteristics:
